Pour yourself a Tall One

Pour yourself a tall one… glass of water, that is.  And maybe another after that.

Have you seen the movie Idiocracy, where people of the future are confused why their crops are unhealthy and dying? (I won’t spoil the minor plot point for you.)  Today, we are those crops.  We’re confused why we’re not healthy.

After decades of drinking artificially flavoured this and sugary sweetened that, we’re starting to come around to a not-so-new idea:

Water is essential to health and weight-loss. I love it!

A recent study has reconfirmed the importance of drinking plenty of water, linking dehydration with obesity and good hydration with weight-loss.

Humans around the world are consuming many of our carbohydrates (which are bad) with sugary drinks throughout the day.  We’re constantly pumping ourselves with carbs. Our body has easy fuel to burn. Knowing that sugar is supposed to be scarce (like it is in nature), our bodies crave that sugar and stores the remainder as fat.

And then we order another jumbo soda.

But when we stop consuming sugars, our bodies start to burn fat as fuel, first the fats that we eat and then the fat on our bodies.

I focus on drinking only water and unsweetened teas and coffees.  No soda on any consistent basis.

No, diet soda doesn’t cut it.  Water, my man, water is our friend in this fight.
